I had the pleasure of having Abraham as a guide on our ascent of Kilimanjaro in February 2020. After reaching the summit and descending back to our previous night's campsite, Abraham and I spent the next day and a half teamed up for the long hike down. We had wonderful chats and it was such a pleasure to spend that one on one time talking about the experience and life in general.
Abraham is a true gentleman with great knowledge of his natural surroundings and Kilimanjaro.
Abraham has these unparalleled leader genes that make him stand out from the crowd. With his deep knowledge about weather, beauty and dangers of the mountain he takes away your discomfort, fear and doubts, unhiding strenghts in you - you were not aware of yourself so far. His positive attitude, care and good mood day by day made the climb to an unforgettable experience and the trip to a once in a lifetime climb. Even in heights you never have been you feel safe every second. Abraham and his team made me want to come back again.
During my time in Tanzania I was lucky enough to participate in a climb of Mount Kilimanjaro and I can't speak highly enough of Abraham and his team for the incredible support they provided throughout the climb.
Abraham organised and led our entire group in such a professional manner from the very beginning. We had highly nutritious meals each day that were freshly prepared by wonderful chefs on the mountain and importantly, we were supported as individuals to climb at our own pace.
Abraham would consistently monitor each of us in the group to assess our well-being and to make decisions on when we needed to have a break, take shelter from the weather, or regroup simply to boost morale after a long day of climbing.
I can't recommend Abraham enough and I think it is a testament to his incredible judgement and guiding skills that every person in our group successfully reached the summit and returned safely.
Thanks Abraham, couldn't have done it without you!
It gives me great pleasure to write a testimonial for Abraham Kipokola.
In September 2006 I was member of a group of Australian friends who climbed Kilimanjaro under the guidance of Abraham Kipokola. Abraham was an excellent guide who made our climb a safe, successful, and memorable event. Abraham managed our support crew very well, making sure we had adequate supplies of food and water, appropriate and timely meals, and any other assistance we needed. He prepared us psychologically for each day, noting what to expect, and ensured we had plenty of food and rest. When a member of our party succumbed to altitude sickness, Abraham dealt with the matter appropriately.
Abraham has a wealth of knowledge about the history, culture, animals, plants, and ecology of Tanzania. He was always willing to answer our questions and cater to our interests as he got to know us. Abraham has exceptionally good people skills. He managed his crew respectfully and efficiently. He treated us, his clients, with respect and care for our happiness and wellbeing. He is an entertaining conversationalist, and willing to learn from others.
I have stayed connected with Abraham via Facebook since I returned to Australia. I have no hesitation in recommending him for any position he seeks.
I had the pleasure of climbing with Abraham in 2012. He is a wonderful guide, very professional.
Asante sana, Abraham. Hii inastahili. Endelea na kazi nzuri!
It was a pleasure to spend time with Abraham while climbing Kilimanjaro. Without him and his team it would have been very difficult to reach the summit, and we are so thankful for all of the guides and porters that supported us!
Asante sana!
Had the privilege of being guided to top of Kilimanjaro by Abraham too. Brilliant leader and great human being!
I was very happy with Godfrey Kipokola’s calm and steady presence as guide on my ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2022. Godfrey adjusted flexibly to the pace I chose to observe – slower or faster, depending on whether or not we were walking with the family that was associated with our group, though separately guided from us. He also dealt quickly and supportively with any issues that came up, such as a little accident with a hot-water bottle that soaked my sleeping bag, when he immediately let me have his own while he took measures to dry mine. I was able to observe that Godfrey maintains an excellent relationship with all porters and other staff, giving clear instructions and ensuring that their well-being was looked after carefully. On summit-day (actually, summit-night …), Godfrey was instrumental in pulling me through some moments of negative thinking (why am I doing this exactly?) and helped me cope with tiredness and the difficulties of the arctic cold, combined with the internal heat of the exertion. On the way down, we had time and I had energy for some very enriching conversation that strengthened the bond that had already been established, and made me look back on the whole experience as not just a personal mountaineering achievement but also a social occasion of enduring value.
